FREQUENTLY
ASKED
QUESTIONS
Are there any animals in the home?
Yes. Queer Kneads has a feline on the premises-Juniper Magick…a.k.a. Juni. If you are allergic to cats, you may want to take precautions and take your allergy medication prior to the session. NOTE: Juni will be in another room during massage sessions.
What is the address for Queer Kneads?
Queer Kneads is located in the condo where I live in NoBo. Once you book and secure your session, you will receive an email with the address.
Where should I park?
Off-street parking is easy to find and accessible in our slow-paced neighborhood. NOTE: Do not park in the parking lot. The lot is for owners/tenants only and your vehicle will be towed at your expense.
Is Queer Kneads wheelchair accessible?
No. At this time, QueerKneads isn’t able to accommodate wheelchairs at this location. There is one step coming up the front porch—my sincere apologies.
Is it important to shower right before my session?
Showering sometime the day of your appointment is beneficial to you- it actually aids circulation by exfoliating the skin and it just feels refreshing! Plus, being clean is considerate and goes a long way—affecting the clients who have a session following yours as well as for the massage therapist who will be working with you.
What should I wear or not wear?
Most people find it most relaxing to receive a massage completely unclothed. Yet some people prefer to wear underwear during their massage. Please undress to your comfort level. Also, know that you’ll only be undraped to expose the areas of your body that are being worked on. A sheet/blanket will be covering the rest of your body at all times throughout your session.
Are there any forms I need to fill-out prior to my appointment?
Yes. For your first scheduled appointment there will be a release form, medical questionnaire and form about massage fees and the cancellation policy. These are digital forms that will be sent via email to the address that you provide when you schedule your appointment. Fill these electronic forms out prior to your first session to enable you to receive your full massage time. Know that if these forms aren’t received prior to your first time in, you'll need to take the time to complete them at the beginning of the appointment and that your time on the massage table will be less out of respect for the following client. NOTE: These forms only need to be completed annually.
In addition to this annual form, a note will be completed by Ray at the start of each visit. This allows Ray to connect with you about what muscles may need attention or how the visit can address your current needs. (ie-full body massage- relaxation only OR more focused work due to tension in your neck, upper back and glutes after a stressful day at work).
What should I do once I arrive for my appointment?
Given that there isn’t a waiting room at Queer Kneads, kindly wait in your car until your scheduled appointment time. I will come outside to greet you a couple of minutes before your appointment time and we can go inside together. Please DO NOT knock on the door since another client’s session may be wrapping up.
What’s the cancellation policy? And what if I space out my massage?
Please see Policies and Fees in the Scheduling section
NOTE: If there is no effort to cancel the appointment and you are simply a "no show" for a scheduled appointment, you will be charged the full amount for the missed visit. Kindly remember that being courteous goes a long way so as much of an advanced warning as possible is greatly appreciated.
What payments do you accept?
Credit cards, Cash for services (NO cash for change is kept on the premises for safety), Venmo, etc. Please see Policies and Fees in the Scheduling section for more information.
Do you accept Insurance for services?
No. Given that billing can be difficult with insurance companies, payment is expected at the time of service or if your cancellation isn’t within the cancellation window for a no-show. In this situation, your credit card on file will be charged.
I have a fever and feel ill-Can I still receive my massage?
No. During bouts of illness (flu, fever, etc.), massage is actually contraindicated. If you have a sudden onset of sickness, reach out ASAP via Get In Touch (Please see Below) to have your massage cancelled. Once you're feeling better, the appointment can be rescheduled.
Do you work on minors?
Yes. NOTE: A parent or legal guardian will need to be present throughout the session for anyone under 16 years old. For those who are 16-17 years old, I ask that a parent, grandparent or legal guardian be present for the first session. After the first appointment check-in has been completed, the adult can step out, go run an errand or wait in their car for the remainder of the session. After the initial appointment, they won't need to attend future sessions unless the teen prefers them too. ATTENTION: Any children/teenagers under 18 years old MUST wear underwear throughout the session.
